Tech Tuesday. This new browser plugin kills all Star Wars spoilers

With the immeasurable glut of Star Wars content coming out of the upcoming The Force Awakens release, you may be struggling to avoid spoilers. But never fear -- a new app is here to help you.

The aptly named Star Wars
Spoiler Blocker warns users about potential spoilers with a large pop-up box, the text of which resembles the iconic opening crawl of the franchise. The pop up then offers you a choice: proceed, if you dare, to your content or navigate away. Created by Alex Jumašev and Max Al Farakh of tech company Jitbit, the extension is available for Chrome, adding a small Stormtrooper icon to your browser that can be switched on and off as you wish. 

The app comes at a good time for Star Wars fans hoping to remain spoiler-free. Publicity around The Force Awakens is ramping up ahead of its 17 December release in the UK, new trailers are being released on a seemingly daily basis and a number of 'leak' forums have started popping up across the web. 

Be warned, though -- the app doesn't have much of a grasp on nuance. While it dutifully appeared on the Star Wars Leaks subreddit, it also popped up when WIRED simply Googled the phrase 'Star Wars', as well as on the WIRED.co.uk homepage. It was also triggered several times as this very story was written, so it may be that the app is only suitable for fans truly dedicated to avoiding spoilers. And more or less everything else.
